BACKING FOR NATIONAL FITNESS DAY

National Fitness Day UK, which started in 2011, has received a significant boost with the support from the Government’s flagship health programme, Change4Life.

Change4Life will join the nationally celebrated day as an official partner and offer its support and network reach to encourage the UK to ‘get active’ on Friday 27 September.

One of the world’s largest healthcare companies, Sanofi has also become a partner through ‘Sanofi Inspires’  – its corporate social responsibility arm which includes multiple  community-focused fundraising challenges. The company, which has 10 locations across the UK, will invite its network of over 2,000 people to take part in fundraising activities on this day.

Ukactive and the énergie Group will remain partners for the third year while Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity dedicated to supporting young people with cancer, will be the beneficiary of funds raised.

In its third year, National Fitness Day UK, aims to become the biggest nationally celebrated fitness-focussed day of the year. Last year it was estimated that over 6,000 people took part in the day across the country.

On Friday 27 September, sports and fitness groups, clubs, schools, gyms, NGBs and more are encouraged to take part in ‘empower half hour’ at 1pm, which consists of 30 minutes of physical activity.

Fitness partner the énergie Group will open its 100 clubs to the public for free and its teams will arrange a series of events to inspire the public to get into shape.

Sheila Mitchell, Marketing Director at Public Health England commented: “Being active helps us all to stay healthy. It’s great to see how National Fitness Day UK is growing each year and we are delighted to offer support through Change4Life”.

Ian O’Hare, Head of Internal Communication for Sanofi in the UK and Ireland comments; “The Sanofi Challenge, part of our Sanofi Inspires programme encourages staff, their friends and families to do something extraordinary that promotes health, fitness and wellbeing whilst at the same time raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust.  This is why Sanofi, through our Sanofi Challenge initiative, supports National Fitness Day.”
